Eligibility – Who the F-1 Visa Is For

Application Steps – From Acceptance to Interview

Receive Form I-20
After acceptance to an SEVP-approved school, you will receive your Form I-20, which is required for your visa application.

Pay SEVIS I-901 Fee
Pay the required fee to the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) before filing your visa application.

Complete DS-160 Form
Fill out the Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application (Form DS-160) and print the confirmation page for your interview.

Create Visa Portal Profile
Register on the official visa scheduling website for your country to manage your application and fees.

Pay MRV Application Fee
Pay the Machine Readable Visa (MRV) fee; follow specifically provided instructions for your embassy or consulate location.

Schedule Visa Interview
Select an available date and time for your required interview at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate.
